What is Ethernet/IP?
Ethernet Industrial Protocol (EtherNet/IP) was introduced in 2001 and today is the most developed, proven and complete industrial Ethernet network solution available for industrial systems.
EtherNet/IP is traditional Ethernet combined with an application layer protocol that defines devices on a network as a series of objects. EtherNet/IP is one of several network protocols that operate under the common industrial protocol (CIP), an open application layer protocol that builds more powerful communication standards.
