About the Course

IDX believes in empowering its clients in being able to use and configure the devices it sells. ComBricks is a very easy and intuitive device to set up. Nonetheless, if you are new to PROFIBUS or PROFINET, would like some direction from an expert on how to use ComBricks, or if you are thinking about purchasing ComBricks and would like to discover its potential then this free course is perfect for you.

ComBricks training falls under PROCENTEC training and forms the second module (afternoon session) of a PROCENTEC Product training day. The first module consists of training on ProfiTrace. Students have the option of attending both or one of the courses. If you feel that you are already comfortable with ProfiTrace, then you need only to come on the afternoon ComBricks course.

Course Duration

This course is completed in 0.5 days. It includes a theoretical and practical aspect. You will receive a certificate upon successful completion.

Class Numbers

Due to the technical nature of this course and our desire to see a maximum pass rate, we limit groups to a maximum of 8 people.

This course takes place from our offices in Fourways, Johannesburg. Please contact us if you would like to arrange onsite training.

Course Outline and Certification

Theory Topics:

Structure of the user interface, the structure of the ComBricks hardware, the difference between multiple ComBricks modules, firmware upgrades, license structure, connecting the ComBricks to a network, live kist (colors, ident numbers, names), the definition of statistics (retries, syncs, lost, etc.)

It is most beneficial if the attendee has a technical qualification or good experience with or understanding of digital communications systems.

Occasional exposure to cabling PROFIBUS networks has been found to be insufficient in preparing potential candidates.

Therefore, as a guideline, potential candidates must:

Have a good command of the English language

Be able to understand and interpret technical ideas and systems

Understand the basics of communications and what it entails

While the IDX Academy makes every effort to assist attendees in understanding the subject matter and associated concepts, the course time is limited and therefore the IDX Academy cannot be held responsible for attendees that fail to cope with the material covered.
